Hasketon men who died in the Great War.

List of those remembered on the village memorial

To add some very sobering top-level statistics to this list, the youngest was Charles Groves, (17) who was underage and shouldn’t have been there at all, the oldest was Ernest Lanham (35). Four were teenagers, most of the rest were in their 20s. The first to be killed was 20 year old John Williams, who was killed by shellfire on 28th Feb 1915 after being in France for only 34 days. The last was Rhudolpho Leggett who enlisted in 1915, nearly survived the whole war, but was killed on 28 September 1918. Those with the same surname are related, usualy brothers or uncles. The Rector, Frederick Wait, lost both his sons, Charles and Percy, in the space of 6 weeks.
