I’ve just been notified by WordPress that this little website I began way back in in 2019, co-incidentally just at the beginning of the COVID, has just topped 10,000 views. So since that almost certainly includes you, MANY THANKS.

Of course, in the overall scheme of things 10,000 views is not really very many – I suspect amazon.co.uk gets that every few minutes. But apart from some interesting local information, I have very little that people actually want, and still less of what they really need, so maybe that’s an unequal comparison.

But what are you all actually looking at? Well, WordPress do provide the statistics, and so here are the top 20 pages:

  1. Home
  2. The Turk’s Head.
  3. Hasketon’s History
  4. A quick guide to Hasketon
  5. A Farm Walk at Thistleton Hall
  6. Saint Chartier
  7. All the people from Hasketon who served in WW1.
  8. Accidents
  9. The Hasketon Boundary
  10. About The Sheeprug.
  11. The 1863 Well Tragedy
  12. Crimes and misdemeanours
  13. Hasketon during WW1
  14. National Hunt Racing at Hasketon.
  15. Hasketon: Party like it’s 1892
  16. Hasketon men fighting at the Battle of the Somme, 1916.
  17. Hasketon men who died in the Great War.
  18. The Victory Hall
  19. Akenfield harvest ale.
  20. The Princess and the Major.

It does occur to me though, that it’s been several months since I added anything significant to the site. I’ve a number of pages in the pipeline, including one covering Hasketon during the period 1850 to 1920 (essentially the period leading up to WW1). But that’s a job for the winter – watch this space!
